Amanda Lin Costa to Guest on USA Chat, November 13th

A graduate of Emerson College's film program, Amanda Lin Costa @TheLoneOlive has worked for twenty years in the film, television and performing arts community.  Starting as a production coordinator, Amanda moved on to working in the "vanities" on Broadway as well as in film and commercials working with companies such as Disney, MTV, Dreamworks and artists such as Whitney Houston, Tony Bennett, Nicole Kidman, Liam Neeson and many others.

When her daughter left for college, she had her own fresh start.  She began directing and producing her first documentary and quickly crossed over into scripted content.

With several reality-television and docu-series projects in development, a feature documentary wrapping up production, a branded content company she runs that specializes in docu-style work and an bio-pic recently optioned, Amanda will be discussing the different writing required in the non-fiction world including:
  •      The fact that often before the camera is even picked up a written full treatment will be needed for a documentary project in order to apply for grants or seek other forms of funding.
  •      Even after the camera has rolled, often editors will need a written script of the story especially for pitch or sizzle reels.
  •      The pitch or one page is just as important when trying to sell a reality show or docu-series to garner interest from production companies second only to actual footage.
  •     Voice over and host dialogue doesn’t happen magically. It is a staple of many documentaries, docu-series and even today’s branded content market.
